Voxana & Standard D&D: Quick Reference

Voxana’s cosmology uses its own terminology, but it maps directly onto the planar framework that D&D 5th Edition (and 5.5e) DMs already know. The table below provides a quick translation. Where the mapping is one-to-one, the Voxana term is simply a setting-specific name for the same concept. Where Voxana diverges from standard D&D, the difference is noted.

Voxana Concept D&D 5e Equivalent Notes
The Loom The Weave (Forgotten Realms) / source of all magic Direct equivalent. The Loom is Voxana’s name for the underlying source of all magical energy. Mechanically identical.
Material Weave Material Plane Direct equivalent. The mortal world where adventures take place.
Feyweave Feywild Direct equivalent. Voxana’s Feywild. Same rules for time distortion, emotional geography, and fey courts apply.
Elemental Weaves: Flameweave Elemental Plane of Fire Direct equivalent.
Elemental Weaves: Stoneweave Elemental Plane of Earth Direct equivalent.
Elemental Weaves: Tideweave Elemental Plane of Water Direct equivalent.
Elemental Weaves: Stormweave Elemental Plane of Air Direct equivalent.
Elemental Weaves: Greenweave No standard equivalent Voxana addition. A plane of uncontrolled biological growth. Use Feywild or elemental stat blocks; emphasize mutation and evolution.
Elemental Weaves: Decayweave No standard equivalent Voxana addition. A plane of entropy and reformation. Thematically overlaps with parts of the Shadowfell but is elemental, not necrotic.
Echo Weave: Shadowfield Shadowfell Direct equivalent. Voxana’s Shadowfell, reframed as a sub-layer of the Echo Weave. Same mechanical properties.
Echo Weave: Dreaming Fold Ethereal Plane / Region of Dreams Direct equivalent. Where mortals go when they dream. Use Ethereal Plane mechanics for traversal.
Echo Weave: Memory Groves No standard equivalent Voxana addition. A sub-realm where past and future echo. Use as a narrative tool or time-anomaly adventure site.
Echo Weave: Forgotten Archive No standard equivalent Voxana addition. Where erased or lost knowledge gathers. Central to the Divine War’s hidden history.
Divine Weave Outer Planes (collapsed) Voxana change. Instead of multiple Outer Planes, all divine presence resides in one sealed realm behind the Divine Veil. Treat as inaccessible; divine magic still works via the Veil.
The Fray Far Realm Direct equivalent. The source of aberrations, madness, and reality-breaking entities. Same tone and mechanics.
The Divine Veil Divine Gate (Exandria) / planar barrier Close equivalent. Functions like the Divine Gate from other settings: gods cannot manifest directly. Voxana’s version can fluctuate in strength.
Glowstone No standard equivalent Unique to Voxana. Shattered divine artifacts. No D&D equivalent; treat as setting-specific magic items and plot devices.
Arcane Stones (destroyed) No standard equivalent Unique to Voxana. Eight artifacts of the Divine War, one per school of magic. Destroyed; now exist only as Glowstone fragments.

Key Takeaways for DMs

Most of Voxana’s cosmology is a reskin, not a rebuild. If a spell, class feature, or monster references the Feywild, it works in the Feyweave. If something references the Shadowfell, it works in the Shadowfield. If a warlock patron comes from the Far Realm, it comes from the Fray. The core D&D 5e rules for planar travel, summoning, banishment, and extraplanar creatures all function as written.

The meaningful differences are few but important. First, Voxana adds two Elemental Weaves (Greenweave and Decayweave) that have no standard D&D analogue; these are adventure sites and flavor rather than mechanical changes. Second, the Outer Planes are collapsed into a single sealed Divine Weave; this simplifies the afterlife and divine politics but means spells like Plane Shift cannot reach individual god-realms. Third, the Forgotten Archive and Memory Groves are narrative tools unique to Voxana that provide adventure hooks around lost knowledge and time distortion.

A detailed equivalence guide with mechanical notes, spell interactions, and class-specific rulings is provided in Chapter 12: Appendices.
