Running Cosmology at Your Table

Voxana’s cosmology is designed to function at multiple levels of engagement. Not every campaign needs to grapple with the nature of the Loom or the structure of the Weaves. The system is built to support everything from a straightforward dungeon crawl to a metaphysical epic.

As Background Flavor

At its simplest, the cosmology provides evocative language and environmental detail. Wild magic zones are Fray-bleed. A haunted forest is an Echo intrusion. A volcanic eruption is Flameweave bleeding into the Material. The terminology enriches descriptions without requiring players to understand the underlying system.

As Adventure Framework

Elemental surges, Echo bleeds, and Fray zones create natural adventure sites. A village suffering from shared nightmares may be near a Dreaming Fold breach. A mine producing strange mutations in its workers may sit atop a Greenweave bleed. Each Weave is a potential dungeon, and each interaction between Weaves is a potential crisis.

As Campaign-Scale Threat

For campaigns that engage with the deepest mysteries, the Loom’s stability becomes the central question. The Glowstone reactivation, the Rot, the thinning of the Divine Veil, and the Fray’s expansion all point toward the same conclusion: something is wrong with the Loom. Whether the party’s journey leads them to repair the damage, uncover the erased truth, or confront what lies on the other side of the Fray is the shape of a campaign that uses Voxana’s cosmology to its fullest.
