Government of Volaxia

Volaxia is governed by a constitutional monarchy under the Keswick family, who have held the throne since the Split. The monarchy is based in Runeswick and exercises authority over the entire continent, though in practice, regional governance varies significantly. Crownheart Vale and the Verdant Expanse are closely tied to the crown. The Frostbourne Wilds maintain considerable autonomy, with settlements like Kruul’Dar and Frostpine Village governing themselves by local custom and acknowledging Runeswick’s authority only in matters of continental defense and trade regulation.

The crown maintains a standing army, a system of appointed regional governors, and a network of tax collectors and magistrates. Justice is administered through crown courts in major settlements and through local arbitration in smaller communities. The Firefly Brigade operates independently of the crown but maintains a cooperative relationship—the Brigade handles threats the army isn’t equipped for, and the crown funds the Brigade’s outpost network in exchange.
