The Frozen Wastes

Beyond Frostgate, the world empties. The Frozen Wastes are the northernmost extent of Osan—a vast arctic tundra of endless snow, icy peaks, and weather that kills the unprepared. No permanent settlements exist here. A few hardy nomadic tribes traverse the Wastes, their knowledge of survival in this landscape unparalleled, and they are the only reliable guides for anyone foolish or brave enough to venture in.

The Wastes are defined by their dangers: hidden ice crevasses, sudden blizzards, deadly cold, and the complete absence of shelter. But they are also defined by their mysteries. Scattered throughout the tundra are ruins hinting at a civilization that predates any known history—their origins and purposes obscured by time and ice. Stunning auroras light the sky at night, and unexplained magical storms sweep across the landscape without warning. Rare minerals and magical ice crystals are rumored to lie beneath the surface, and ancient artifacts are said to be embedded in the ice itself.

The Frozen Wastes are Osan’s final frontier. For most people, they are a place to avoid. For adventurers, they are a place where the world runs out of answers and starts asking questions instead.
