The Missing Five Hundred Years

The timeline of Voxana, as the world understands it, is approximately five hundred years too short. The Divine War lasted half a millennium, and Galmir’s memory erasure removed it entirely. Common history jumps from the Split to the Rebuilding as if the two events were sequential. They were not. Between the Split and the Rebuilding lies a five-hundred-year gap filled with war, divine intervention, the forging and shattering of the Arcane Stones, and the banishment of the most dangerous entity in Voxana’s history.

The erasure was thorough but not perfect. Fragments survive. The sealed vault beneath Nin’Durahl contained books that reference the Divine War—partial pages that the High Rollers discovered. The Sunstone Temple, submerged beneath the Grand Desert, preserves the Arcanum Divinorum’s records intact. Galmir’s journal is there. The eight statues of the Arcanum’s members still guard the entrance. Fragments of the true history exist in sealed vaults, lost libraries, and the Deep Ruins beneath the Sea of Lament—waiting for someone to find them and understand what they mean.

The missing years are not merely a historical curiosity. They are strategically critical. The knowledge of how the Arcane Stones were forged, how the five gates were constructed, and how Erruuth was banished is the knowledge necessary to reinforce, repair, or replicate the prison system. Without it, the world has no defense against the cult’s campaign to open the remaining gates. The race to recover this knowledge—before the Cult of the Veiled One finds and destroys it—is one of the most urgent plotlines available in any Voxana campaign.
