The Druid Circles
Type: Nature stewardship and magical ecology. Base: Sanctuary Archives, Verdant Expanse, Volaxia. Reach: Both continents, concentrated in forested and wild regions.
The Druid Circles are Voxana’s oldest continuously operating magical tradition—older than the Elder Sage Council, older than the Firefly Brigade, and rooted in practices that predate the Split. The Circles are not a single organization but a network of independent druidic communities that share a common philosophy: the natural world is a living system that must be understood, protected, and worked with rather than against.
The Circles’ most visible achievement is the transformation of the Verdant Expanse. After the Split devastated the region, it was the Druid Circles who led the restoration—decades of careful cultivation that turned a scarred landscape into Volaxia’s breadbasket. Their Sanctuary Archives, living repositories of ecological knowledge grown from living wood rather than built from stone, are maintained throughout the Expanse and in other wild regions.
The Druid Circles are currently managing the Rot crisis in Greenflower—a fungal phenomenon that is transforming living things into fungal hybrids. The containment effort is straining their resources and exposing the limits of their understanding. The Rot does not behave like any natural phenomenon in their archives, and its cross-continental presence suggests a cause that extends beyond their expertise. The Circles have reluctantly begun sharing information with the Elder Sage Council, an institution they respect but do not entirely trust.
Zumora’s Elven Sages
Type: Magical academic institution. Base: Zumora, Eldenwood, Osan. Reach: Osan, with influence across both continents.
The Elven Sages of Zumora are the faculty and governing body of Osan’s most prestigious magical academy—the Elven Wizarding School, headed by Oleus Valxido, Elder Sage of Conjuration. The school specializes in elven magical traditions, natural magics, and the study of the relationship between arcane energy and the living world.
The Sages function as both educators and researchers. Their students travel from across Voxana to study in Zumora, and the institution’s graduates occupy positions of influence in magical communities on both continents. The Sages also conduct independent research, particularly into the properties of the Eldenwood forest and the ambient magical energy that permeates it.
Zumora’s Sages are politically neutral by tradition—they accept students regardless of national origin and refuse to align the school with any government. This neutrality has been tested by the Glowstone reactivation, which has drawn intense interest from the Council of Lords, the Keswick monarchy, and less savory parties. Oleus Valxido has publicly stated that the school’s research is not for sale, but the pressure is mounting.
The Temple Orders
Type: Religious institutions. Base: Varies by deity. Reach: Both continents.
Worship of the Twelve Gods is organized through temple orders—institutional frameworks that maintain shrines, train clerics and paladins, provide community services, and preserve the rituals and theology of each deity. Most major cities host temples to several gods, and smaller towns typically maintain at least a shared shrine. The Temple of the Many in Guildspire’s Market Rise is a notable example of a multi-faith institution where all twelve gods are honored under one roof.
The temple orders are independent of one another and independent of secular government. They cooperate on shared concerns—disaster relief, public health, and spiritual counsel during crises—but each maintains its own hierarchy, traditions, and priorities. The orders of Xathys (Life), Caros (Knowledge), and Yara (Love) tend toward public service. The orders of Shatarr (War) and Chakrus (Death) serve more specialized communities. Zirnex’s (Sea) order is the dominant religious presence in maritime communities. Omaris (Nature) overlaps significantly with the Druid Circles, and the two traditions maintain a respectful if occasionally competitive relationship.
